Joseph Rasmussen

As a child, I always felt that my place truly belonged travelling alongside the curious Frodo and conversing with the wise Dumbledore. The world I lived in never seemed to be able to compare with those I would read about. I decided from a young age to try to escape, and so I began writing my own stories. I published a short picture book in Elementary School with the help of my teacher and the single copy in existence resides on my bookshelf. As I grew, I continuously tried my hand at writing stories, but after a mere couple of days, as I would read through my story, I would grow discouraged at how it never seemed to produce the same magic that the books I loved would. It was not until I reached college that I truly found the drive to write a complete novel. I finished a novel and, although I immediately scrapped it, throughout the process of writing it, I developed much of the writing skills I have today. I am currently a student in Brandon Sanderson’s writing class and am excited to announce that I will be releasing my debut novel in 2025!
